What do you see first? (optical illusion)

This is an adaptation of a newspaper report about a video on TikTok. You should let them look at the image before doing any of the reading. The passage may start off an interesting discussion. Answer key included.

After watching the video (e.g. Yuna Kim skating), students answer questions like, "What do you think of her skating?" I created this worksheet to practice a dialog I was required to teach from a Korean middle school textbook, "What do you think of that?"

A quick and easy worksheet to help your students with word association! I find that this exercise not only helps to learn new vocabulary but also to develop a deep, complex understanding of the word itself. Students can discuss with one another or with aloud with the class. I prefer aloud with the class so the students can communicate their ideas and learn some others as well. Enjoy!

This worksheet is geared towards later elementary (A1) and pre-intermediate (A2) learners. The worksheet was used in a seventh grade, middle school classroom in South Korea. The content is geared towards my students but can be adapted to other languages easily. I started off the lesson by teaching the grammar points "What do you think of...?" "I think (that)..." and "I have no idea." I then introduced positive and negative (good/bad) adjectives describing people and had the students write the corresponding word in Korean. The students fill out the questions and then at the end of class they walk around the room and rate the 5 physical items. I used items that the students would not know easily, told them the names, and had them discuss if their rating changed once they knew what the item was.

Ask your students to use their imagination to guess what they're going to do or say. They might confuse be going to with present continuous. For example, Mario is shaving, what's he going to after shaving? Some think he's going to work, others think he's going to save the princess. Practice as many verbs as possible.
