The worksheet is created for practising a scanning technique and can be used both for classroom and one-to-one classes. To make it more fun, you can cut the article into pieces, give your students a list of bullet points and make them compile the text back together piece by piece. There is a small comprehension activity check if you fancy developing some kind of a discussion afterwards. Be aware that the text may contain some typos (*we are all humans after all) as I've tried to make it more comprehensible. Enjoy!

When and where were you born - Speaking activity

This worksheet includes a variety of famous people around the globe. Some have already passed away and others are still alive. The aim of this exercise is to print out the worksheet and cut each square individually. After you have done that, you can use the cut outs as a name tag to each student. You can tell your learners to assume the identity of the person on the tag, then they will have to tell their names, the place they were born and when they were born. This is to promote speaking and the use of the past simple tense of the verb to be (was-were). If you have any other suggestions for this worksheet, feel free to comment. Student´s can answer questions themselves, ask a partner, or five different people one question. They can talk about the subjects in the pictures or their own. There are two empty squares for them to add pictures of their own ideas. Questions: e.g. When did you first fly in a plane? I/he/she first flew in a plane when..... Encourage the students to expand on their answers and ask follow up questions.

AIMS:The major aim of this exercise is to talk about past activities.• to practice Past Simple Tense• to illustrate past activities• to practise informal conversation• to increase vocabulary of verbsCONTEXT:Tell your students they can imagine a conversation with their best friend who is really stressed and they are having a talk on how to take care of oneself.PROCEDURE:1. Tell your student(s) to get into pairs and inform them that they are going to exchange information on when they did some activities last time.2. IN A GROUP: pre-teach the vocabulary necessary to talk about past activities in the worksheet. This activity is a great follow up after lessons on Past Simple Tense. Present your students with the context and one or two examples. Tell your students to work in pairs and write their answers in the worksheet. Instruct them to focus on past forms of the verbs in answers. Finally, ask your group for feedback, ask them to report to you who did what and when.3.
